A horse named Kevin: The Inspiration behind The Teal Pony’s Brand

Kevin the horse and inspiration behind The Teal Pony

When it came time to name and shape The Teal Pony, I knew it had to be something that reflected both creativity and versatility. Enter Kevin: a 16.1 hand high, off the track thoroughbred, companion, and the unexpected heart of this brand.

Now, Kevin may not be teal (a tragic oversight on nature’s part), but accessorise him in it, and he looks downright regal. He’s a horse of many talents—once a racehorse, now equally at home in a western saddle, spinning into a rollback like he was born for it. Versatile, adaptable, and always ready to meet people where they are—sound familiar? That’s exactly how we approach design at The Teal Pony.

Kevin is the kind of horse who reads the room. If a child is in the saddle, they can slide down his leg like a fireman’s pole, and he won’t so much as blink. But if you’re confident and want to race a sports coupe through a paddock at over 60km/h, he’ll give it everything he’s got. He embodies the idea that great design (like a great horse) should be both powerful and approachable—meeting you at your level, whether you need a gentle guide or a bold partner to charge ahead with.

More than anything, Kevin is just happy to be here. He’s sweet, kind, and always up for a snack and a cuddle. That spirit—warm, engaging, and full of personality—is exactly what I wanted us at The Teal Pony to embody. A brand that doesn’t just create beautiful things, but makes people feel welcome, seen, and empowered.

So, while Kevin might not be the one designing your branding or social media graphics (his hooves make the whole keyboard thing tricky), his influence runs deep. The Teal Pony is about adaptability, creativity, and injecting a bit of heart into everything we do—just like the horse who inspired it all.
